How to measure for men's Clothing

Measure carefully every time you order .. your measurements may

have changed since your last order. Be sure the garment you want

comes in th!! size you require .. not all items are offered in every

size.

If

measurements fall between sizes, order the larger size.

HOW TO MEASURE CHEST .

.

Your actual

clrest

measurement determines the size you wear for a majority of

men's clothing items .. from underwear to outerwear.

Measure ii.round chest, well up under arms and over the tips of shoulder

blades. For most accurate results have someone else take your chest measure–

ment. Hold tape snug, but not tight.

For knit shirts, pajamas and robes, underwear,

measure chest over undershirt.

For work clothes, jackets, sweatshirts and casual outerwear,

measure over

clothing you normally wear underneath.

For

mits,

sport coats, dressy outerwear, and sweaters,

measure chest over

shirt. Do not make allowances. For example: a man with a 40-inch chest

measurement should order size 40 for both a suit and a topcoat.

TO MEASURE WAIST

TO MEASURE INSEAM

..

A

Measure over well-fitting slacks with belt

removed, in position usually worn. Hold tape

snug-not tight. Measure over same style of

slacks desired.

A

Full-cut slacks are usually worn at natu–

ral waistline. Measure at regul;u beltline,

just above hip bones.

B

Slim style slacks are worn at the hips, just

below the waistline. Measure around the

top part of hip bones.

C

Western-style slacks and jeans and very

tapered models ride low on the hips.

Measure about 172 in. below natural waistline.

TO MEASURE HEIGHT ..

Measure from top of head to floor while standing

against wall in your stocking feet. Have someone

take this important measurement to insure that

correct height is determined.

Finely tailored clothing is proportioned to

HEIGHT; this measurement is usually indicated

by the letter S, R, L or T after the chest or inseam

measurement. These symbols show whether a man

is Short, Regular, Long or Tall. Example: a man

5 ft. 10 in. in height, with a 40-inch chest, 35-inch

waist, and 31-inch inseam, orders suit size as

"40R-35-31." For slacks, height symbol follows

inseam, as "35-31R."

Measure a pair of well-fitting slacks of the same

style you plan to order. Lay the slacks fiat on a

table, fold back one leg (as illustrated) and

measure along the inseam from the crotch seam

to bottom of the

cuff.

Or, if you prefer, have someone measure you

while you are standing in a relaxed position with

slacks at waist position you like to wear them.

Measure from well up in

crotch, down the inseam to bot–

tom of cuff or to length desired.

Where specific sleeve length is required in or–

dering men's dress, sport or work shirts, bend

elbow and have someone measure the number

of inches from middle of back of neck, across

shoulder and around point of elbow to wrist.

For neck size, measure number of inches

around neck at about the middle of neck.

Where specific sleeve length is not neces–

sary, number of inches around middle of neck

is your size.

If
