SHIPPING INFORMATION
PARCEL POST SHIPMENTS: On al l articles for which you pay shi ppin g
charges, the shipping weight is given in the cata log descript ion. Enter the
total shipping weight for each article in the shipping-weight column of the
order bla nk. Add the pounds and ounces, then cha nge ounces to full
pound s (16 ounces equals 1 pound), a nd enter total weight iA pounds. The
post office counts fraction s of a pound as a ful l pound and charges post–
age accordingly. For example: If your order tota ls 6 pounds and 30 ounces,
a llow posta ge for 8 pounds (3 0 ounces equa ls 1 pound and 14 ounces,
therefore 1 pound 14 ounces plus 6 pounds equals 7 pounds 14 ounces
and the post office wi ll charge for 8 pounds).
See chart at right. If you live in Zone 3 or within 151 to 300 miles from
Cata log Order Plant, the amount of posta ge to al low for 8 lbs. is 81c. If
you send more than the effective parcel post rates, we will return the
extra amount. Be sure to show your parcel post zone number.
FREIGHT OR EXPRESS SHIPMENTS: While express is faster, freight is
the most economica l way to ship heavy, bulky merchandi se. Before
marl<ing method of shipment on order blank, compare freight and ex–
press rates in the yellow section of Sea rs B ig Fall Cata log.
When ordering on Sears Revolving Charge Account or Easy Payment
Plan, sh ipping charges are added to your account. No need to figure
shipping charges.
NOTE: On cash orders, if there is no freight agent in your town, include
money with your order to prepay shipping charges.
TRUCK SHIPMENTS: Not all trucking companies make deliveries to a
home address. This can be verified by checking with your trucking com–
pany's local agent.
If shipment is to be made to your home and you live outside of town,
also give your highway route number and some identifying landmarks.
Truckin g com panies frequently make additional charges for second de-
livery. Avoid th is by arranging to have someone accept sh ipment when
merchandise is delivered.
On cash orders it is not necessary to send money to pay for truck tran s–
portation charges on your order. You pay shipping charges to truck driver
when goods are received.
HOW TO SEND MONEY: The best way to send money is by post office
money order, express money order, or by bank draft or check. The mail
carrier wi ll buy a post office money order for you if you live on a rural
route. It is better not to send postage stamps, coins or paper money.
If it should be necessary, be sure to send your order by registered ma
