Authentic Reproduction of a pony from a children's carousel

Not too many years ago, carousels were familiar

sights in America. They could be

seen

in virtually

every park and fairground . . surrounded by

excited children waiting their tum in great an–

ticipation of the wondrous ride to come.

Today the carousel is fast disappearing from

the American scene. No longer are there the great

wood carvers creating the animals, chariots and

elaborate facades that made the carousel a fairy–

tale land come to life. Gone are men like Gustav

Dentzel and Marcus lllions who came from

Europe at the tum-of-the-century possessing

only their skill and imagination but ended up

establishing carousel carving as one of the great

forms of American folk art.

And so we are extremely proud to be able to

offer here this authentic copy of a pony from a

small carousel of the early

1900'

s. Cast in special

reinforced plaster composition from a mold of the

original so that every detail of the wood carving

is duplicated. Painstakingly hand painted and

expertly antiqued. The result is this outstand–

ing reproduction of the art of carousel carving

that would make a truly unique and beautiful

room divider or decorative piece for a game room.
