Everything You Buy at

JCPenney Is Guaranteed

When you receive your purchase,

examine it carefully. If it does

not meet your expectations, return it to us and explain what is

wrong. We will exchange it if you wish-or we will refund your

money (or credit your account) with appropriate adjustments for

transportation and handling charges.

Specific JCPenney Warranties.

Some of your most important

purchases from JCPenney are covered by our own warranties

that protect you from basic defects in the merchandise and from

failure in use. These specific JCPenney warranties are fully

stated in the catalog where the items are described-with the

exception of two concluding paragraphs which are quoted here:

"For the addresses of JCPenney facilities in your area, refer

to your local telephone directory. If there is no Penney, J. C.

Co., Inc. listed, write to J.C.Penney Co., Inc., Product Ser–

vice Department, Warranty Div., 1301 Avenue of the Amer-

icas, New York, N. Y. 10019.

·

" This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may

also have other rights which vary from state to state."

The two paragraphs quoted above are an official part of every

JCPenney warranty.

·

Regular Guarantee.

If your purchase from us does not carry a

specific JCPenney warranty, it is covered by this regular guar–

antee:

After you have used your purchase,

if it does not live up

to everything we have promised for it, or if it does nGt give you

the service you expect during the normal life of the item, please

let us know the facts in the matter. Return the item if that is

convenient-if it isn't, just say so and we will advise you what

to do.* We will make a proper adjustment in cash, credit, mer–

chandise, or repair of the item. Whichever it is, you can count

on us to do what is right and reasonable.

Manufacturers' Warranties.

Merchandise warranties which are

.offered by the manufacturer or distributor of an item (rather than

by JCPenney) are not published in this catalog. The existence

of such a warranty is always noted in the description of the

item, and a copy of the complete warranty statement may al–

ways be obtained by writing to: J.C.Penney Co., Inc., Product

Service Department, Warranty Div., 1301 Avenue of the Amer–

icas, New York, N. Y. 10019.

on page 338. Page 337 tells how to return merchandise.

What Price-and when?

Prices in this catalog

become effective on August 27, 1977. Many

prices continue in effect for almost a whole year, till August

12, 1978 (notices printed in this catalog identify the "long-life"

pages for you). Some items are offered at savings that have a

cut-off date of December 24, 1977, and a notice on the page where

the item is sold will tell you so. All other prices are subject to

change starting January 28, 1978.

You always get our lowest current price.

If we reduce a price from

one catalog to another (as in our sale books) you pay the lower

price during the period when it is in effect-even if you have

ordered at the higher prk:e. You don't even have to know that the

price has been cut! If you send us too much money, we auto–

matically refund the overpayment. When merchandise is re–

turned, the refund or exchange will be based on the price charged

at the time you made the purchase.

We will fill your order

from any of our expired catalogs as long as

we have the merchandise in stock. You will be charged the price

that is in effect when we receive your order. The price may have

reverted to its former level or it may have been altered by the

publication of a new catalog.

For a Larger Selection of Merchandise

Whatever you're shopping for-clothes, gifts, something for

family or home-if you

can't

find it in this catalog, look in our big

Fall '77 Catalog. Index starts on page 779.

Send Gifts to a Friend

Write carefully the name and address of the person you wish to

send gift(s) to-don't forget Zip Code. In each Gift Parcel we en–

a slip with your name as sender, and a Merchandise Re–

turn Form. No price is shown.

JCPenney Home Colors

Now it's easy to use color in home decorating-no more wonder–

ing " will these colors go together." Because every time you

choose one of the JCPenney Home Colors in home furnishings,

you can be sure that all shades in the same color " family" will

harmonize. Read about it (and see all the JCPenney Home

Colors!) on page

in our big Fall '77 Catalog.

"Our Lowest Price

..."

Some items in this catalog are offered at "Our lowest price ever"

or some other variation of "Our lowest price ..." All of these

statements refer

fo

pricing in Penneys two big general catalogs

(Spring

&

Summer and Fall

&

Winter), our two seasonal catalogs

(Summer and Christmas), and all sale catalogs except the over–

stock clearance events called Budget Watchers Sale. These

statements do not include pricing of the same merchandise in

Penney stores.

"No-Iron" Means "Permanent Press"

When it's " no-iron," it's easy care! " No-iron" is the term we use

to describe fabric items with a "built-in" smooth, wrinkle-free

look. Just machine wash, and tumble dry for best results.

(If

you

prefer not to tumble dry, a little touch-up ironing will probably

be needed.)

To be sure the entire item will give really satisfactory no-iron

performance, Penneys Merchandise Testing Center checks every

detail-seams, sewing thread, linings, zippers, even buttons.

And you can be confident that the no-iron feature will last for the

life of the garment.

FLAME-RESISTANT

Federal law requires that all children's sleepwear (sizes Oto 14) be flame- The 100% polyester and 100% nylon fabrics that our catalog describes as
