What Price-and When?
Prices In this catalog
become effective on August 23, 1980. Most toys
are available until August 15, 1981 , at prices indicated (notices printed in
this catalog identify the " long-life" pages for you). Some items are offered
at savings that have a cut-off date of December 27, 1980, and a notice on
the page where the item is sold will tell you so. All other prices are subject
to change starting January 24, 1981.
You always get our lowest current price.
If we reduce a price from one
catalog to another (as in our sale books) you pay the lowerprice during the
period when it is in effect-even if you have ordered at the higher price.
You don't even have to know that the price has been cut! If you send us
too much money, we automatically refund the overpayment. When mer–
chandise is returned, the refund or exchange will be based on the price
charged at the time you made the purchase. Our catalog is published in
two regional editions, with some variations in merchandise selection and
pricing. The preceding information refers to pricing in catalogs distributed
within the same region.
We wlll flll your order
from any of our expired catalogs as long as we
have the merchandise in stock. You will be charged the price that is in
effect when we receive your order. The price may have reverted to its
former level or it may have been altered by the publication of a new
catalog.
Prices In this catalog
apply only to orders placed by telephone or in
person at a JCPenney catalog Department, or by mail to a JCPenney
Catalog Distribution Center. Catalog merchandise selections and prices
may vary from those in our stores.
"Our Lowest Price ..."
some items in this catalog are offered at " Our lowest price ever" or some
other variation of " Our lowest price .. ." All of these statements refer to
pricing in Penneys two big general catalogs (Spring
&
Summer and Fall
&
Winter), our two seasonal catalogs (Summer and Christmas), and all sale
catalogs except the overstock clearance events called Budget Watchers
Sale. These statements do not include pricing of the same merchandise
in Penney stores.

JCPenney Home Colors
Now it's easy to use color in home decorating-no more wondering if
colors go together. Because every time you choose one of the JCPenney
Home Colors in home furnishings, you can be sure that all shades in the
same color " family" will harmonize. Read about it (and see the JCPenney
Home
C~lors!)
on page 1162 fn our big Fall '80 Catalog.
Save On Shipping
The transportation-and-handling charge for Class C merchan–
dise is usually less when your order is sent to a Catalog Depart–
ment instead of your home. Even if you arrange for trucking
from the Catalog Department to your home, the combined
charges will usually be lower than
if
you had the item shipped
from our warehouse directly to your home.
See
page 364 for
information about Taxes.

About Garments on a Hanger
When we say that a garment is "on a hanger," we mean it is shipped from
the manufacturer to our distribution center on a hanger, stored there in a
hanging position, and finally, at a catalog Department, you pick it up on a
hanger. In addition, you receive it in a plastic bag so it's neat and fresh-–
and, in most cases, ready to wear immediately. Many of our.garments for
women, and some for men and girls, are handled in this way.
All of our ultra-modern distribution centers have a special fashion section
for " on hanger" clothing-that means you get prompt service no matter
where you live. We are proud of our " on-hanger" service, introduced 16
years
ag~and
our customers tell us they like it too.

FLAME-RESISTANT
Federal law requires that all children's sleepwear (sizes Oto 14)
be
flame-resistant
In addition, we offer many other garments, for children and adults, made
with
fabric
and trim which pass
the
flame-resistance test of
the
Consumer Product Safety
Commission Regulation No. FF5-74. This is not a legal requirement, but it is a reas–
suring "plus" feature.
Flame-resistant fabrics have
these
important qualities:
• They're
more resistant
to catching fire than ordinary fabric.
• Flame spreads
more slowfy
when the source of fire is still in contact.
• Flame is either
self-extinguishing
or
easy to extinguish
by brushing, slapping, or
smothering it away.
The 100% polyester and 100% nylon fabrics that our catalog
describes
as flame–
resistant have a characteristic that contributes to their flame-resistance-when ex–
posed
to flame, the fabric shrinks away from the sourceof
heal
If
it is thus withdrawn
entirely from
the
flame, there is little
danger
that it will ignite.
Of
course, flame-resistant fabrics are not fireproof. and they do not protect their
wearer from intense heat. But they do a lot ordinary fabrics don't do-and that can
add greatly to your peace of mind.
For a complete collection of flame-resistant
fabric
~chandise,
see the special
listing on page 822
in
the index of our big Fall '80 catalog.
