The Magnifications of Camera Lenses

are expressed by focal

lengths-given inmillimeters.The standard focal length is 50mm.

This corresponds approximately to normal human vision. The

higher focal lengths (70mm-210mm) give you close-up or "tele–

photo" views from considerable distances. The smaller focal

lengths (28mm to 40mm) give you sharp wide-angle to close-up

views. A zoom lens is like having many lenses in one. You can

quickly change focal lengths or "zoom" without moving from your

spot. Macro mode provides sharp close-ups.
