SHIPPING INFORMATION
PARCEL POST SHIPMENTS: On all articles for which you pay shipping
charges, the shipping weight is given in the catalog description. Enter
the total shipping weight for each article in the shipping-weight column
of the order blank. Add the pounds and ounces, then change ounces
to full ppunds (16 ounces equals 1 pound), and enter total weight in
pounds. The postoffice counts fractions of a pound as a full pound
and charges postage accordingly. For example:
If
your order totals
6 pounds and 30 ounces, allow postage for 8 pounds (30 ounces equals
1 pound and 14 ounces, therefore 1 pound 14 ounces plus 6 pounds
equals 7 pounds 14 ounces).
See chart at right. If you live in Zone 3 or within 151 to 300 miles
from Mail Order House, the amount of postage to allow for 8 lbs. is
60c. If you send more money than is needed to ship your orders, we
will refund every cent not used.
FREIGHT OR EXPRESS SHIPMENTS: It is not, necessary to send money
to pay for freight and express shipping charges in advance. You pay
shipping charges to agent at your freight station when goods are
received. However, if there is no agent at your freight or express sta·
tion, please include additional money with your order to prepay ship·
ping charges. While express is faster, freight is the most economical
way to ship heavy, bulky merchandise. Before marking method of
shipment on order blank, compare f reight and express rates on green
pages of your Sears big catalog.
TRUCK SHIPMENTS: Not all trucking companies make deliveries to a
home address. This can be verified by checking with your trucking com·
pany's local agent.
If shipment is to be made to your home and you live outside of town,
also give your highway route number and some identifying landmarks.
It is not necessary to send money to pay for truck t ransportation
charges on your order. You pay shipping charges to truck driver when
goods are received.
HOW TO SEND MONEY: The best way to send money is by postoffice
money order, express money order, or by bank draft or check. The mail
carrier will buy a postoffice money order for you if you live on a rural
route. It is better not to send coins or paper money with orders, but should
it be necessary, be sure to send your order by registered mail.
