When English-born Mable Lucie Attwell
was young, she created enchanting
stories and pictures about children.
She sold her first illustration at 16,
and her first children's book was issued
in 1905. Throughout her six decade
career, she portrayed children in all
their innocence and wisdom, using her
own daughter, Peggy, as her
inspiration. In 1921, she was
commissioned to illustrate J.M. Barrie's
"Peter Pan and Wendy,'' which became
one of the most famous books of all
time. Even the children of the Royal
family had nursery sets and china
designed by Mabel Lucie. Enesco has
