RUM-FLAVORED FRUIT CAKE. A dark
cake. The liberal amount of glaced
fruits, including pineapple, cherries,
citron, lemon, orange is well-soaked in
rum before baking. Dark raisins and
nuts-pecans, black walnuts, almonds
-used in abundance. Batter of purest,
fresh ingredients is made extra rich and
moist by addition of tangy spices to
honey, shortening and fresh eggs-just
enough flour used for a proper base.
To insure. Utmost richness and flavor
cake is aged at least 8 months in

cake. An unusually rich blending of 10
varieties of fresh and g!aced fruits in–
cluding pineapple, cherries, citron,
lemon, dates and currants. Muscat rai–
sins and 4 varieties of nuts are used.
All are baked slowly in a rich, creamy
batter of rare spices, brandy, wine,
molasses, sugar, butter and eggs. Very
little flour is used. Cake is aged from
12 to 18 months in brandy and Cali–
fornia sherry wine for flavor and rich–
ness. 4 oz. of hard sauce made
dered sugar, brandy and butter is in–
