How to Measure Boys', Young Men's Clothing

Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back

Before measuring : Read the measuring instructions carefully. Notice what in–

formation is asked for. When measuring: It's difficult for a person to measure

himself correctly. Have someone else take the measurements. Empty pockets of

anything bull..")'. Stand naturally, in a relaxed position. Don't expand chest! Hold

tape snug, not tight. When ordering: Please give us all of the information asked

for. Make no extra allowances-Sears garments are

"full

cut "

HEIGHT MEASUREMENT

M~sure

height without shoes. Most

popular method for taking height

measurement is to have boy stand

against wall. Height is important

because it helps you select the most

accurate size to give your boy a

handsome, more flattering fit.

CHEST MEASUREMENT

Measure chest well up under arms

and over tips of shoulder blades.

For shlrts, suits, sport coats and

sweaters...measure chest over shirt.

For outer coats and jackets ... meas–

ure chest over heaviest clothing to be

worn underneath.

WAIST MEASUREMENT

Measure waist over underwear at

smallest part. Waist measurement

should be taken carefully because

it controls the amount of room in

the seat and crotch. When measur–

ing waist, be sure to hold tape

measure snug, but not tight.

TROUSER INSEAM MEASUREMENT

Take a pair of good-fitting trousers. Lay them

flat on a table as illustrated. Measure inseam

from crotch seam to bottom of cuff. Or,

if

you

prefer, have boy stand in a relaxed position

with legs spread apart. Pull up trousers to

where he likes to wear them. Measure along

inseam from crotch seam to length desired.

When ordering by size, check catalog to be sure shoes come in your size.

Here is Sears 4 -point measuring system .. . for all members of the family. Use a blank sheet of pa–

per large enough to fit underyour foot, an ordinary kitchen knife, and a pencil. Sit on a chair and let

the foot thatgivesyou the most trouble rest

natur~lly

on the paper as illustrated at left. Do not stand

as thls

v.;n

spread your foot and give incorrect measurements. Then mark paper as shown below.

Ill Hove someone else

your longest toe os shown

above, and make a mark

with the pencil along the

outside edge of the point

of the knife.

moved to the joint of

the inside of the foot,

(widest part! as shown

above, and again make

a mark with the pencil

along the outside edge of

the knife.

Next, hove the knife

~

blade placed at back

of the heel, as shown in

the sketch above, and

make another mark with

the pencil along the out–

side edge of the knife

blade.

You will now have a piece of paper with four pencil marks on it as

shown at right. Do not enclose a complete pencil outline of your

foot ... these four marks give us the exact measurement of your foot.

Enclose this piece of paper with your order blank.

If

ordering more

than one pair send diagram for each with catalog number noted.

For Children's Shoes . •• Measure Each Time You Order. Children's feet

grow so rapidly that size may change each time you order. However,

it's easy to get correctly fitted shoes for children if you measure as

shown above or send for Sears

Free

Mcasul"ing Device. Ask for Sears

Measuring Device 13818N . .. you can use it again and again.

fAl

And last, have knife

blade placed at wid–

est port of the outside of

your foot as shown above.

This gives us your exact

foot measurement, so do

not send pencil outline of

your foot.
