of the 18x28" all wooden frame is painted in

bright colors the happy figure of an amusing

clown taking a

happy-go-lucky drive at

Here's a real challenge to the co-ordination of

child and adult alike. Across the face of this

14"x20" wooden framed board are eleven parallel

wooden cross bars over which the players must

roll a steel ball from one cross-bar to another

without dropping the ball. The ball rolls through

manipulation of

two handles at either side of

the board-too steep, ioo fast and the ball falls

One of the world's oldest and most fascinating

games, Kalah can be played by all age groups.

Equal amounts of stone "counters" are placed

in each pit at the game's beginning, the number

depending upon

the time available and age

of players. Each player controls a row of 6 pits

on his side. Players by turn empty their pits,

distributing counters one by one in successive

pits as far as they go. Object of game is to

have the most counters in one's own Kalah, or

end pit, at the end of the game, which is term–

inated when an entire side row is emptied. Of

Defies the law of gravity

The big steel ball

actually rolls right up the two steel rods, then

drops into cup for score. The higher scores are

obtained by manipulating rods to cause ball to

roll up the

greatest distance before dropping

into cup. Seven numerically graduated scoring

cups are molded into the 17" plastic base. It

requires patience and perseverance but it's fas–

cinating fun.
